The Barons are currently accepting internship applications for the 2011 – 12 season. Please read below for application instructions.

The Barons Internship Program is a great way for college-level students to acquire credits and/or experience while learning the business side of professional hockey. Our program provides a number of students with an overall learning experience to include such areas as: Community Relations, Public Relations, Sales and Ticket Operations, Sponsorship Fulfillment, Game Day Promotions, General Office Management, and Merchandise Sales.

The Barons organization utilizes the utmost in professionalism in everything we do. We are in search of highly competitive, highly motivated individuals who have a clear commitment to a career in sports and entertainment venue marketing/management.

Application and Interview Process
In order to be considered for an internship position it is required that each candidate submits a complete formal application before September 9, 2011.

Job Description:
Internship primarily responsible for assisting Executive Director and Director of Special Events & Marketing with on-going public relations duties as well as preparation for the Harn Homestead’s special events including the “Hootenanny at the Harn” red dirt music event in September; the “Haunt the Harn” trick-or-treating event in October; and the “Territorial Christmas Celebration” holiday open house event in December. Duties may include running errands, assisting with event planning, securing and scheduling volunteers, data entry, phone calling, bulk mailing, fundraising, event set-up and decorating, as well as assisting Education Director with teaching elementary students, giving guided tours, and gift shop sales.

Qualifications:
Coursework in communications, public relations or related field preferred. Must possess a willingness to work with a diverse group of individuals in an outdoor environment. The Barons Internship Program is a great way for college-level students to acquire credits and/or experience while learning the business side of professional hockey. Our program provides a number of students with an overall learning experience to include such areas as: Sales and Ticket Operations, Community Relations, Guest Relations, Sponsorship Sales and Execution, Press Box Operation, General Office Management and Game Day Promotions.

The Barons organization utilizes the utmost in professionalism in everything we do. We are in search of highly competitive, highly motivated individuals who have a clear commitment to a career in sports and entertainment venue marketing/management.

This particular internship revolves around the Barons floor hockey program. The intern would be responsible for scheduling, managing and attending the floor hockey events across the metro area. Communications Department

The Children's Center, a nonprofit hospital serving children with complex medical and physical disabilities, offers unpaid internships to qualified college juniors and seniors seeking a career in communications (public relations). Internships should be for academic credit and coordinated through an accredited institution of higher learning and The Children's Center communications department, in accordance with policies and procedures of the Center's human resources department. All interns are subject to the applicable employee standards of the Center, including code of conduct and dress code policies.

Objectives
An intern in the Communications department will be provided an opportunity for practical experience and direct knowledge in an on-the-job situation; to provide an opportunity for the student to work with professionals and receive professional guidance; and to provide the student with a means of exploring vocational interest on a short-term basis. Exposure and/or opportunities will include working with local/regional print and broadcast journalists, preparing newsletters and social media announcements, and writing and/or editing stories for print and video materials. An emphasis will be placed on video production experience. An intern will be considered as an ambassador of the Center and may be required to represent the hospital by giving tours, making presentations or assisting with fundraising events. The intern's supervisor will be the communications and media coordinator who will evaluate the student's performance in accordance with the requirements of the student's institution of higher learning. An intern should be comfortable working in an environment which includes children with various medical and rehabilitative issues.

Requirements
The Children's Center offers internships during fall, spring and summer sessions. Length of internships may vary, depending on the requirements of the college or university. A brief training session about the hospital's mission and services is required, as well as the completion of signed agreements including student observation forms, privacy policies (HIPPA), and department-related confidentiality of intellectual property that may be observed during the course of the internship. If it is determined that the student is not adequately fulfilling terms or requirements of the Center, the internship may be terminated without notice, subjecting the intern to a loss of college credit, as determined by the institution of higher learning.

Self-motivation and the capability of organizing the workload within an established system and time frame are extremely important. Experience in dealing with the public, good communication skills, and interpersonal "people management" skills are preferred. Business hours at the Arts Council are 9A.M. to 5P.M. The hours required for the internship are 8-10 hours per week, but hours are flexible depending on the intern’s school schedule.
