Essential Responsibilities:

  • Must be a strong writer, with the ability to conduct research through various methods.
  • Participate in the planning and creative process for developing public relations and advertising campaigns
  • Write and edit press releases, web stories and newsletter articles
  • Write and edit copy for print ads and additional promotional items
  • Provide media relations support and follow up
  • Conduct formal and informal research projects
  • Contact and follow up with the media regarding story opportunities
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned

  • Organized and detailed orientated with a proven ability to multi-task
  • Able to adhere to strict deadlines and take detailed direction

JDRF Ride Team: Fundraising/Communications Internship - posted 02/03/2009

Description

  • The Central Oklahoma Chapter of JDRF encompasses the larger portion of our state including all of central and western Oklahoma. We are seeking an intern to assist the Central Oklahoma Chapter of JDRF Ride Team for media coverage, fundraising assistance, and communications as the team members recruit others for the ride, fundraise, and train for the Ride to Cure Diabetes.
  • The JDRF Ride Team will be traveling to Killington, Vermont, in August 2009, to ride 100 miles (in one day!) as a demonstration of their commitment to find a cure for diabetes. Each rider is responsible to meet a specific fundraising goal.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Write and edit press releases about the Ride Team and the Ride to Cure Diabetes. Customize press releases for communities throughout Oklahoma.
  • Assist the Ride Team Chair with
    • Promoting fundraising events, including basic graphic design of event flyers, programs, adds; coordinating information mailings/emails;
