Opportunity Description:

The OKC Downtown College is a consortium of five colleges and universities offering credit classes, professional development classes and personal enrichment classes in downtown Oklahoma City. The member institutions are the University of Central Oklahoma, Oklahoma City Community College, Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City, Redlands Community College, and Rose State College.



The OKC Downtown College is located on the 4th Floor of the R.J. Norick Library, 300 Park Avenue. Complementary garage parking will be provided.



The OKC Downtown College’s marketing and communications efforts reach into all aspects of the downtown OKC business interests. Qualified candidates will be challenged to write frequent press releases about the Downtown College and related activities, create and maintain Facebook and Twitter sites for the Downtown College, and develop relationships with media professionals, agencies and industry leaders. This position assists with implementing the Downtown College’s various promotions, advertising and marketing programs. By the end of a typical three to four-month internship, interns in this area can take a marketing project from concept to implementation. Interns are encouraged to maintain a portfolio of their creative work.



We will accommodate the educational goals and requirements of the college’s internship program. We will do everything possible to accommodate specific needs in scheduling and type of assignments. The marketing intern will have the opportunity to meet with the Downtown College’s Marketing Committee which is made up of marketing representatives of the five institutional members of the consortium. The intern will have the option of participating in networking opportunities by accompanying the Director of OKC Downtown College at business related events in and around downtown Oklahoma City.

* To market OKC Downtown College programs to maximize participation
* To ensure OKC Downtown College maintains its leadership position
* To gain experiences relevant to the intern’s career goals



The OKC Downtown College will have three marketing internships throughout the year; one each in Fall, Spring, Summer. Each internship will be scheduled to meet the requirements of the intern’s academic schedule. The number of work hours per week and weekly schedule will be tailored to meet the intern’s needs. The intern’s work schedule will fit within a 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM window. Please specify which internship (Fall, Spring, Summer) you desire and any specific scheduling needs. The intern will be provided with an office equipped with computer, phone, and file storage. These are non-paid internship positions.

* Improve and maintain OKC Downtown College’s Facebook and Twitter sites
* Develop and maintain a list of media contacts
* Design and/or update various marketing materials
* Take one event from conception to fruition.
* Help plan, market and coordinate special events that promote the Downtown College and related activities
* Work closely with Information Technology support staff to update and improve the Downtown College’s Web site
* Develop advertisements for the Downtown College and investigate media buys
* Meet with and obtain advice from the marketing representatives of the Downtown College’s five member colleges
