Nonprofit PR Internship in OKC - Somewhat Paid

The Oklahoma Heritage Association and Gaylord-Pickens Museum is seeking a public relations/marketing intern for summer 2010 (candidates interested in spring 2010 or fall 2010 internships will also be considered). The Association is an 83-year-old non-profit organization dedicated to preserving Oklahoma’s history and promoting pride in our great state. Through high-tech, interactive exhibits, the Gaylord-Pickens Museum, new in 2007, is a high-tech, allows its guests to experience Oklahoma through the lives and accomplishments of its people.

Candidates should be:

Public relations or marketing major
Junior or senior
Knowledgeable in AP style
Proficient writer
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Knowledgeable in Photoshop and/or InDesign
Able to dedicate 15-20 hours per week to an internship
Internship tasks:

Performing support work for the Director of Communications and Marketing
Writing and distributing press releases to local and regional media
Designing advertisements, invitations, brochures and publications
Writing for the magazine, newsletter, e-newsletter, Web site and social networking sites
Updating Web site regularly through content management system
Promoting group tour opportunities and special events hosted by the Association & Museum
Helping develop and implement new marketing programs to reach a wide variety of audiences
Collaborating with other departments to provide support for ongoing projects and special events
A stipend will be offered commensurate with qualifications and previous experience.
