Opportunity Description:
The Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City is a non-profit organization whose mission is to assist African-Americans, other minorities and the poor to achieve social economic equality. Services are offered to community in the areas of jobs and training; children and families; affordable housing; urban health; and minority entrepreneurship.

BASIC FUNCTION:
Provide support to the Communications/Development department. The intern will provide assistance for communications strategies, social media platforms, special events and fundraising.

Responsibilities:
Update social media sites and assist with social media strategies
Writing press releases
Writing print and electronic newsletters
Assisting with event planning / execution
Assisting with compilation of promotional materials for events and mailings
Flyer/brochure copy and design
Perform basic office tasks such as: copying, faxing, writing letters & memos, sending emails, and providing information to clients
Assist with Urban League representation/booth manning at community events

Requirements:
Working toward a Bachelor degree in Public Relations, Journalism, or related field. Must have excellent computer skills and have some knowledge about the Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Basic working knowledge of social media such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Time Commitment:
15 to 20 hours per week
