Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department

Job Description:
The Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department is looking for an intern for the fall semester to work on its new Sustainable Initiatives program. Following the growing popularity and desire for sustainable and green travel options the department is in the process of developing and launching a statewide sustainable tourism program. This program will include certification, education and marketing components. It will engage tourism providers as well as informing travelers on how to make more sustainable choices while traveling in Oklahoma. This is a dynamic program combining marketing, education, research and environmental studies. The intern will assist the Sustainable Initiatives Coordinator in launching the program and publicizing the components of the program. Projects will include researching sustainable travel, managing databases, managing social network sites, merchandising sustainable products and producing original materials for website content. There will also be opportunities to work on sustainable events, conferences and workshops.

Requirements:
Must have junior or senior standing. Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Please note any other special computer or design skills.
This is a nonpaying internship. Credit can be provided.
This program has many facets to it however, the following focuses of study are preferred.
Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Tourism/Travel, Hospitality, Marketing/PR, International Studies.
